Making sure a conference venue is easily located should be the number one consideration for conference organisers, an industry figure has claimed.

Speaking to Personnel Today, vice-chair of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers Daphne Davis says priorities have shifted in recent times and ease of access is now a very important factor.

"18 months ago it was all about location, location, location. But now people really do have to justify going to a conference and their time is precious, so the minimum amount of time it takes prospective delegates to get there, the better," she states.

Ms Davis adds that event organisers who are welcoming delegates from overseas should consider holding the conference close to an airport, making it easier to find.

In addition, it is preferable that conferences aimed at UK delegates take place in venues which have good road and rail links, she tells the news provider.

Meanwhile, Diarmuid Beary, managing director of Display Wizard, recently claimed that participating at exhibitions and trade shows is crucial for businesses, as it allows them to demonstrate their products and services face-to-face with prospective customers.
