ISO 20121 is the internationally recognised standard which helps organisations in the events industry improve the sustainability of their event related activities, products and services whilst ISO14001 is the renowned international standard for environmental management. They are designed to help businesses grow while reducing the environmental impact of growth, and to help organisations meet increasing customer expectations of corporate responsibility and compliance. The IS0 9001, which was originally awarded to DB Systems in 2011 and which demonstrates that quality management systems are in place for the business has been renewed for another three years. DB Systems has worked in partnership with EcoEvents to achieve certification and to implement an Integrated Management System.

Together, the standards, which involve a total review of management processes to ensure that sustainability and environmental practices are considered throughout all business activities, demonstrate a real commitment to sustainability and provide verifiable evidence of performance improvement.

Mark Danvers, Operations Director at DB Systems, commented: “Before we started the certification process we were already operating sustainable where possible – from streaming waste to recycling packing materials – but the specification of ISO20121 has taken our operations to a whole new level, generating social, environmental and economic improvements which is really rewarding to see. Sustainability is now very much at the centre of all our operations as a result of the processes implemented.”

Oliver Richardson, Sales and Marketing Director at DB Systems, added: “We’re really proud to have achieved certification. The ISO standards are an internationally recognised mark of compliance with a rigorous specification which requires buy-in from the entire business. Our clients increasingly demand evidence of sustainability practices and we’re thrilled to have our commitment to sustainability validated in this way.”
