The Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) has announced that this year's event industry golf day, In The Rough, will be held once again at the Forest of Arden hotel and golf course on July 17th 2014. The NEC will be returning as the headline sponsor and Exhibition News as the event's media partner.

In The Rough is organised by ESSA and supported by the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), Association of Event Venues (AEV) and industry promotional body FaceTime. The day has become a popular event in the industry calendar, and a generous donor to charity.

Every year In The Rough raises money for two charities, one that works in the UK and one that works overseas, chosen by the steering committee. This year the committee has chosen Events for Namuwongo as their overseas charity and The Lord's Taverners as their UK charity.

There are places for 20 industry teams to battle it out on the fairways and the greens, and in the evening a gala dinner will be held with award presentations, fundraising activities for the two chosen charities and live entertainment, to round off the day.

Paul Robin, chief executive of The Lord's Taverners was "delighted to hear that the steering group of The Event Industry Charity Golf Day has chosen The Lord's Taverners as a beneficiary charity this year. All the monies raised will be going to help give disadvantaged and disabled young people to play sport for their general well-being and self-esteem. I hope the event is a great success."

Chris Skeith, ESSA director, is anticipating another day of great fun and fundraising, "In The Rough has gone from strength to strength, and this year we're pulling out all the stops to make it an even greater day of golf, fun and fundraising in the wonderful surroundings of The Forest of Arden. We're very grateful to the NEC for their headline sponsorship of the event, and to Exhibition News for coming on board as media partners."

Steven Richards, NEC sales director was pleased to be involved too, “This is a great opportunity for the NEC to support In the Rough organisers ESSA in delivering a fantastic industry-wide event where organisers, venues and contractors can get together outside of the usual workplace to continue to build relationships, while at the same time supporting two great charities in Events for Namuwongo and The Lord's Taverners.”
