A Manchester bike show has been cancelled due to the adverse weather, it has been announced.

The event organisers said that they were disappointed to have had to cancel the National Motorcycle Show at Manchester Central but said it had no choice since 45 exhibitors had pulled out of the event because of the heavy snow.

"We have also lost various bike displays and other exhibits, as well as the stunt shows," said show director Howard Cartledge.

"Rather than put on half a show, we would rather bring it back to Manchester in a couple of months," he added.

The show may be rescheduled for April and advanced ticket holders are being advised that they will be refunded, or will be able to transfer their ticket to a later date.

Following the heavy snow, the Met Office has forecasted that the country will be hit by icy conditions and severe frost, which could cause disruptions to more events.
