Compass Group has won a £34 million, ten-year contract to provide match day catering services for Sheffield United.

Compass Group has won a £34 million, ten-year contract to provide match day catering services for Sheffield United.

The event organisers will operate hospitality throughout the club's 16 retail outlets, 31 corporate boxes and three suites.

It will also provide sales, marketing, catering and hospitality for non-match day conferences and events held at the Bramall Lane stadium as well as its on-site hotel.

This is the first time that the football club has outsourced these services.

"We were impressed by the sales processes that Compass had to offer us, as we felt that we had exhausted the local and regional markets and wanted to get more national business," said Simon Argall, operations director at Sheffield United.

Sodexo Prestige recently announced that it had secured a £5 million deal to provide services for Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums.

It will provide conference, banqueting and visitor catering services, as well as sales and marketing support for five of the group's venues.
