Event organisers hail record-breaking Ideal Home Show

The Ideal Home Show enjoyed its most successful year in a decade in 2010, pulling in 250,000 visitors over 17 days.

The Ideal Home Show enjoyed its most successful year in a decade in 2010, pulling in 250,000 visitors over 17 days.

Featuring appearances from celebrities like Channel 5 presenter Suzi Perry and Masterchef's Gregg Wallace, the revamped event saw a rise of 100,000 visitors on last year's figures, according to Event magazine.

This was despite the fact that the show was seven days shorter than in 2009.

Rob Nathan, marketing manager at event organisers Media 10 group, told the magazine that the show doubled ticket revenues year-on-year.

"We have taken a brand that was on its knees and turned it into, arguably, the biggest success story in recent exhibition history," he added.

Mr Nathan said that the success of the event was an "amazing testimony" to the efforts of the marketing and public relations teams that worked on it.

Suzy Perry was unveiled as the celebrity ambassador for the Future area of the Ideal Home Show back in January. She was on hand to demonstrate the latest and best domestic gadgetry on offer.
