<p>Eventia has become the first events association to launch the Green Global Index (GGI) to its members, aimed at enhancing sustainability efforts within the industry.</p><p>The GGI uses an online questionnaire and a data entry process to rank businesses nationally and globally in terms of their environmental efforts.</p><p>Organisations which gain a minimum level of attainment are placed on a public index, advertising them to consumer and corporate buyers as a sustainable supplier.</p><p>"This is a great opportunity for Eventia members to benchmark their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity against peers and identify areas for future improvement," said Aileen Reuter, a board member for CSR at the organisation and marketing director of Grass Roots.</p><p>According to the group, GGI is suitable for all affiliates, from venues to event agencies, and is designed to support a sustainable industry by providing a "simple and low-cost process for all users irrespective of their size".</p><p>Recently, Matt Wilson, events director for the Conference People, said that the demand for green venues currently outweighs their availability in the UK.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-19133629-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
