<p>A series of conferences are to be held to help the events industry understand the business potential on offer through London 2012, reports eventmagazine.co.uk.</p><p>Events 2012 & Beyond will be organised by Events 2012 Development Group and will aim to inform the events industry of what the Olympics will have to offer the sector, both during the Games themselves and in the years afterwards. Beijing will form a particular focus, with executives looking to learn lessons from how the Chinese ran their operation.</p><p>David Hornby, commercial director of Visit London, told the website: "It is clear that the UK events industry is not just keen for information on how they can get the most out of the Olympic opportunity, but is desperate for the right information from the right sources."</p><p>Conference centres and event venues will form an integral part of the preparation for the Olympics and are set to benefit the UK for many years afterwards as well.</p><p>The Westmoreland Gazette reports that around 7,000 direct contracts will ultimately be agreed as part of preparations for the Games.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18858113-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
