Events organisers 'to benefit from frozen electric tariffs at BIC'

Events organisers may be drawn to the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC), as it has frozen its electrical mains tariff.

Events organisers may be drawn to the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC), as it has frozen its electrical mains tariff.

Due to the rapid rise in the cost of energy, the venue and the Bournemouth Pavilion have decided to adopt these costs without passing them on to event organisers.

Clive Tyers, head of conferences, exhibitions and events at the BIC, states that it will be continuing this policy from 2009 in order to help clients afford the site.

He asserts: "Whilst the industry and country as a whole are talking about the green shoots of recovery, we know every little helps and can make a difference to our clients' budgets and the financial success of their events."

Mr Tyers highlights the organisation's commitment to providing value for money and a high level of service.

Earlier this month, Len Olender, director of travel, event management and marketing services for the Olympics at Sportsworld Group, has advised event organisers to identify any opportunities they can around the 2012 Games.
