ExCel London event organisers win VisitLondon award

ExCel London has been named the Business Venue of the Year at the Visit London Awards, where it also picked up the accolade for Corporate Event of the Year.

ExCel London has been named the Business Venue of the Year at the Visit London Awards, where it also picked up the accolade for Corporate Event of the Year.

The venue won the gold medal for The London Summit: Growth Stability and Jobs, ahead of the The Brewery's Glaston-Brewery and Maybourne Hotel Group's Event Organisers Party at the Berkeley.

ExCel London was also runner-up in the Sustainable Tourism category, in which Cavendish Conference Venues triumphed.

The Natural History Museum took the silver medal for Business Venue of the Year, while Cavendish Conference Venues came in third.

Visit London's interim chief executive officer Sally Chatterjee said: "Tourism is a hugely important part of London's economy and I would like to thank all the organisations that work so hard to make London such an incredible city."

Meanwhile, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games are calling on event suppliers to bid for £700 million worth of goods and services contracts.
