<p>Faversham House Group (FHG) has become the latest conference and exhibition organiser to adopt the British standard for sustainability.</p><p>BS8901 has been specifically designed for the events industry and provides a framework of good practice for businesses within the sector to take a balanced approach to economic activity, environmental responsibility and social progress.</p><p>Amanda Barnes, chief executive of FHG, said the company wanted to demonstrate to employees and customers that it had a "robust system" in place.</p><p>"Sustainable event management is critical to our future business so it is imperative that our systems reflect best working practice and a commitment to sustainability," she added.</p><p>Ms Barnes explained that the framework focused on three stages of organisation, from the conception and planning phase, through to the execution of the conference or exhibition itself and finally the post-event activities.</p><p>In related news, Eventia has become the first events association to launch the Global Green Index for its members.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-19148764-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
