ICM gives Birmingham the nod for its next conference

The Institute of Credit Management (ICM) has announced that it is to take a break from the capital and host its next annual conference in Birmingham. Highlighting the growing strength of the UK's second city as a conferencing and events destination, the professional body's icm09 will be held at the ICC Birmingham on Tuesday February 17th next year, the first time for several years when it has been held outside of London.

According to the ICM's director general Phillip King, the decision on the venue was made after looking into the feedback given by previous attendees and taking into account the varying needs of everyone involved. "One of the UK’s leading conference venues and located within minutes of Birmingham New Street Station, the ICC has excellent transport links, making it readily accessible for all parties," Mr King explained. "We wanted to make sure that we chose a venue true to our original ethos of one event, on one day and at one location." The news comes as city officials work to cut emissions in the city of Birmingham by as much as 60 per cent, with the ICC's Combined Heat and Power System seen as a key means of achieving this.
