In the Rough - The Event Industry Golf Team Challenge and Dinner for 2012 has been launched, it will take place on Thursday 19th July, 2012 at the luxury golf and spa resort of Hellidon Lakes, Daventry, Northamptonshire and will support the charity Hospitality Action.

The Golf Team Challenge, a Team Stableford competition with a shotgun start, is an expansion of the already popular Industry Golf Day organised by ESSA. But for 2012 this has been opened up to a wider audience of event industry golfers.

ESSA Chair John Robson: ‘We are delighted to be working with Mervyn and Hospitality Action to develop the ESSA Golf Day into what we hope will be a must attend event for those in the industry. Even through the toughest economic times in living memory, our Golf day has survived where many others have faltered, and now seems the perfect opportunity to create the ‘roughest’ day possible."

There are a range of golf and dinner packages to suit all abilities, budgets and taste. The day begins with golfers' breakfast at 10am and the evening closes after presentations and the dinner at midnight.

Mervyn Ramsay of “In the Rough” said: “We have taken the success of the existing golf competition and the charity support of Sticky Wicket to create an event that will be hugely fun and entertaining, and will be supporting a worthwhile cause in the process.”

“We have chosen to support Hospitality Action, the trade charity offering a crucial lifeline to people of all ages, working and retired, from the hospitality industry. Hospitality Action supports anyone who experiences even a small change in circumstances which can tip lifes balance and turn a manageable situation into an unmanageable one. Extended illness, relationship breakdown, bereavement or redundancy can all put a strain on the household budget. Hospitality Action receives no government funding and so are dependent on individuals and corporate bodies from within the industry. With your support we help Hospitality Action to grow and provide a vital lifeline within the hospitality industry” he added.
