Minister Backs Britain for Events 2012/13

John Penrose, Minister for Tourism & Heritage is once again throwing his weight behind the Britain for Events campaign. This commitment builds on the Minister’s proactive involvement in the 2011/12 initiative, culminating in his presence at International Confex 2012.

John Penrose, Minister for Tourism & Heritage is once again throwing his weight behind the Britain for Events campaign. This commitment builds on the Minister’s proactive involvement in the 2011/12 initiative, culminating in his presence at International Confex 2012.

Speaking about the campaign, Mr Penrose commented: “This is the year for the events industry in the UK… with the arrival of the Olympic Games later this month we have an opportunity to show what we can do on the biggest stage. As a supporter of the Britain for Events campaign I would (also) like to pass on my support for this important industry, both in representing the UK in 2012 and its role in delivering the legacy of the games in 2013 and beyond.”

The Minister was also keen to underline the importance of public and private sector partnership in growing the events industry, “Britain for Events remains a wonderful example of how the private and public sectors can work together to benefit industries that bring economic prosperity to the UK. I believe by working together we can grow this industry still further, and continue to stage some of the finest conferences and exhibitions in the world.”
