Morecambe FC hope to attract event organisers to new stadium

Morecambe FC have unveiled the new name for its £12 million stadium, complete with banqueting facilities which is set to be completed later this year.

The new Globe Arena has a 6,000-capacity and includes luxury function, banqueting and conferencing suites, which the club hopes will appeal to event organisers from around the country.

Morecambe FC chairman Peter McGuigan said that the new stadium would ac as both a high-quality sporting facility and social venue for the local area.

"We hope to attract the business community from both a local and national base to our outstanding conference facilities," he added.

Along with the stadium name, the club has also unveiled a new crest, which features a large shrimp on a red shield and was designed following a consultation with fans.

Meanwhile, Burnley FC have announced plans to build the country's first StadiArena which will house conferencing and exhibition venues for use all year round.
