<p>A national bank has decided to make its conference equipment and meeting rooms available to local businesses free of charge in response to the global economic turmoil.</p><p>Branches of Yorkshire Bank across the UK will allow small businesses to use their meeting rooms for free in a bid to help them weather the current economic storm. Many small firms are threatened by the shrinking economy and the rising cost of doing business, while dozens of companies are reducing their travel expenditures and scaling back on annual conference events in a bid to save money.</p><p>Dave Simpson, senior partner of Yorkshire Bank's Derby Financial Solutions Centre, and Ian Spink, managing partner in Liverpool, said: "By offering free access to modern conference and meeting rooms, we hope to help local businesses practically and economically." </p><p>The move is also designed to stimulate economic growth in city centres across the UK, providing meeting rooms for small firms to discuss business operations with clients from further afield.</p><p>The Huddersfield Daily Examiner has revealed new Yorkshire Bank figures showing that 66 per cent of local residents will be making home improvements this year rather than trying to sell.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18954253-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
