Portable staging company keeps media warm at Ryder Cup

Melville has ensured that members of the media were kept warm and dry at this year's Ryder Cup.

Melville has ensured that members of the media were kept warm and dry at this year's Ryder Cup.

The portable staging company worked with the European PGA on a new-look Media Centre, which consisted of 390 media desks and 180 photographer desks, a reception and an interview room.

Mark Eddy of Melville Teamwork said the centre had been very well received.

He added: "[This] demonstrates that Melville had the ability to offer and deliver projects for high-profile events outside the exhibition arena. Our scale and breadth of service allowed us to work closely with the end client and to desired time scales."

This year's Ryder Cup, which took place at Celtic Manor, was expected to be held between October 1st and 3rd. However, it ran into a fourth day after torrential rain made the course unplayable at various times.

The European team, captained by Colin Montgomerie, claimed victory, as Graeme McDowell clinched glory by just 14 and a half points to 13 and a half in the last day's final singles match against Hunter Mahan.
