ShowPad 'makes life easier for event organisers'

A new system called ShowPad is setting new standards for the use of personal digital assistant (PDA) technology within the exhibition logistics industry, it has been claimed.

The device was used by event organisers during May 2010 at two major exhibitions, including the London International Wine Fair at ExCel, which was attended by 13,700 people.

Phil Powell, managing director of CEVA Showfreight, which developed the system, said standard applications used for business and consumer logistics were not meeting the needs of those within the industry.

With ShowPad, customers "are now reaping the efficiency and cost-saving benefits", he said.

"Gone are the days when forklift drivers raced backwards and forwards across halls to obtain paperwork for the next job. Piles of delivery tickets have ceased to exist.

"Instead we have real-time updates and status reports on screen and in the hands of CEVA operators stood in front of exhibitors on their stands."
