UK Events Awards winners announced

The winners of the inaugural UK Events Awards have been announced at a Manchester ceremony, which aim to celebrate events organisers across the UK.

The winners of the inaugural UK Events Awards have been announced at a Manchester ceremony, which aim to celebrate events organisers across the UK.

Among the winners were Carnyx which won the Chairman's Award for its BBC Blast Tour and Rapport Events which won Best Conference for its Astellas Senior Managers Meeting.

The Best Corporate Event gong went to the O2 Touch Rugby Six-a-side Competition, while the Celtic Connections Festival won the Best Cultural accolade.

In terms of venues, the SECC was named the Best Large Venue, while the George Hotel scooped the Best Small Venue prize.
Spinningfields was named the Best Unusual Venue, beating The Caves and The Rowantree.

The event took place at the Ramada Manchester Piccadilly and entertainment was provided by The Rok Chix, comedian Phil Nicol and the band Under the Covers.

Speaking prior to the awards, event director Lynn Lester told Event Industry News: "The UK Event Awards are testament to what a booming industry the events world is."
