UKELA selects event organisers based on green credentials

Scottish-based Origin Events has won the contract to organise the UK Environmental Law Association's (UKELA's) annual conference for the next three year.

Scottish-based Origin Events has won the contract to organise the UK Environmental Law Association's (UKELA's) annual conference for the next three year.

The organisation has selected the event organisers due to their specialism in planning sustainable conferences as the UKELA adopts a green policy for its future events.

Origin Events' three-year contract with the UKELA requires that the food is locally-sourced and venues meet strict environmental criteria.

"The last few years have proven that it is possible to plan a large conference in the UK that keeps an eye on the environmental impact of events management and delivers the necessary commercial returns," said Origin Events director Denise Pinto.

Last year, the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool, Cape Town International Convention Centre and Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre announced that they were joining forces to create a Global Green Alliance.

This will promote sustainability in events and advocate industry best-practice for hosting eco-friendly conventions.
