UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) have launched an initiative aiming to provide support for the events industry. The Events Alliance has been set up to 'work in partnership with event organisers to increase the number of UK and overseas trade related events'.

As part of its brief the Events Alliance is able to support any UK SME in any sector and can provide a number of services including: promotion of specific events, attendance at events by UKTI officials, hosting of networking opportunities, hosting of pavilions at specific events, providing knowledge and territory market intelligence.

UKTI is looking to encourage more companies to export, by increasing the number of core events onto the programme, from 75 this year to 300 next year, and to support event organisers across the UK.

Business Visits & Events Partnership chairman, Michael Hirst, commented: “The agenda of UKTI in growing their international presence is aligned with that of partners of the BVEP in showcasing their products and services to a global marketplace.

“We're delighted that UKTI have recognised the role events play in attracting inward investment and international business growth.”

UKTI will be working with Britain for Events to disseminate more information about the services to the whole events industry.
