Piggotts, a leading provider of Christmas lights, marquees and branding, had cause for celebration this week after helping to design, produce and switch on the world-famous Regent Street Christmas lights.

Tens of thousands of people gathered as the cast of the New Narnia film pressed the button that signifies the official beginning of the Christmas shopping period in London’s West End.

The Piggotts team spent eight days installing the lights for the televised launch in Regent Street, which uses over a million LED lamps as part of the display.

The team have also been installing Christmas lights all over other parts of the West End for the past month, including the lights in Oxford Street, Swallow Street and Spitalfields.

Piggotts, which is part of the Crown Group, has been designing and producing the bespoke displays in Regent Street for over a century and work throughout the year to develop designs and concepts that meet the latest trends in lighting.

Other forthcoming ‘switch on’ events include Marylebone High Street on the 17 November, and Bond Street on 18 Nov, where there will be street entertainment, food and mulled wine for the public to enjoy.

Nick McLaren, managing director, Piggotts, said: “We are proud to have been a part of the Christmas Celebrations in London for over a century and we are delighted that this has become such a loved and important event on the international calendar.”
