The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) is preparing a strategic planning document following its meeting with senior government representatives on 5th June.

Representatives from the No 10 Policy Unit, the Cabinet, the Treasury, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, UKTI, Visit Britain and London & Partners met with members of the exhibitions industry at Downing Street in June to discuss the future of the UK events industry.

From the exhibition organising community were Clarion Events, Informa, UBM, i2i Events Group and ITE Group.

AEO's CEO, Karim Halwagi, commented: "We were hugely encouraged by the meeting at No.10, not least for the level of recognition that our industry is gaining for its important and significant contribution to UK plc.

“This is the beginning of what we are sure will be a lasting relationship that will deliver real value to our industry and the UK economy.

"The industry has waited a long time to engage with such senior levels of UK Government and we are excited to be taking the initial steps in forging an enduring relationship with No.10.”
