X in the City was postponed earlier this year because of concerns about the current economic climate, according to a report.

Event organisers cancelled the event, which was due to take place from October 22nd to the 24th, but told Event magazine that they hope to host another expo in the future.

Show director John Sanders said: "As a small organiser in the current challenging economic conditions we do not have the resources to deliver the event to the standard we and the community wished. However this is not goodbye but rather see you soon."

He added that the event had received excellent support from London venue Excel.

Earlier this month, Excel London netted a prize at the World Travel Awards' Grand Final Gala ceremony.

It was named as the best meeting and conference centre at the ceremony, which took place on November 7th.

At the time, Kevin Murphy, chief executive of Excel London, said the venue was world-class.
