Family fashion giant MEXX created a special installation in Amsterdam recently to thank inhabitants for its 21 years of successful trading in the city, as well as mark the relaunch of company’s flagship store the fashionable Kalverstraat.

The retailer commissioned a remarkable piece of temporary art by illustrator Piet Paris, a tapestry of colour woven in fresh flowers in Dam Square, just round the corner from the store.

The 1,500 square metre illustration, entitled Hip Lady in a Dress, used 105,000 blooms and was protected from the trampling of wayward feet by 130 metres of stylish, black aluminium barrier, supplied by the Netherlands-based event barrier specialist, Mojo Barriers. The production expertise behind the installation was provided by Garage Creations, while the many thousands of gerberas, chrysanthemums and roses were given away to crowds of delighted shoppers when the installation was brought to a close.
