NEC raises over £21,000 for charity

The NEC Group has raised £21,489.27 for its employee-elected charity of the year, HelpHarryHelpOthers (HHHO) which funds research into brain cancer and helps support the children and their families who are affected by cancer.

The NEC Group has raised £21,489.27 for its employee-elected charity of the year, HelpHarryHelpOthers (HHHO) which funds research into brain cancer and helps support the children and their families who are affected by cancer.

Georgie Moseley, chairman and founder of HHHO, visited the venue to receive the donation and was presented with a cheque decorated with beads like those used to make the charity’s renowned ‘Harry bracelets’.

HHHO began following the tragic death of 11-year-old Harry Moseley after a four-year battle against a brain tumour. While fighting the tumour, Harry, from Birmingham, made and sold handmade bracelets to raise more than £500,000 for Cancer Research UK.

John Hornby, chief operating officer for the NEC Group, who presented Georgie Moseley with the cheque, commented: “HelpHarryHelpOthers is a great charity and one that has truly touched the hearts of NEC Group employees. Georgie is truly inspirational and we wish her the very best for the future. I would like to thank each member of staff across the NEC Group who made a donation or helped with fundraising activities over the last 12 months.”

NEC Group employees raised the money through a number of fundraising activities including making and selling bracelets, cake sales, a tuck shop, fun days, a quiz and contributions from staff ticket sales.

On collecting the cheque, Georgie said: “HelpHarryHelpOthers has really enjoyed having the NEC Group as its charity partner. All management and staff have been really instrumental in not only raising valuable funds for HHHO but also in creating such awareness for our charity so that we can do ‘what we say on the tin’ - help all those children and their families affected by cancer.”
