Telford conference organisers to benefit from £250m makeover
Telford is on the verge of a £250 million regeneration programme to create a new convention quarter.
Conference organisers could soon start to see the benefit as the first phase of the plan is set to be given the green light next year and the transformation is expected to create thousands of new jobs.
Telford and Shropshire Conferences, the area's convention bureau, is working with private investors and public organisations on the development and is promising to take the area into the "premier league" of event locations.
"This destination has the infrastructure to impress, the venues to excite and the investment to promise our clients an exceptional convention destination," said business tourism manager Sarah Bird.
She added that £100 million of private investments had already been spent on the area over the last five years.
A recent study by market research consultancy Finaccord suggested that event businesses will be among the fast growing small firms in 2010.
